Would you have ever thought playing to your weaknesses could be a strategic business move? Well, according to FFCo chief executive Stan Gordon, there are definitely benefits to be seen from encouraging your staff to have a go.
He told Marketing Magazine why putting energy into the areas in which your team lacks skills can be beneficial to your business in the long-term.
Stan contends that regardless of educational background or training, people can learn and expand their skill set if the motivation and belief in self ability is there.
His golden strategy is encouraging people to have a go before writing said weaknesses off:
“By using an 80/20 model – where 80% of the time we focus on our strengths and 20% of the time we focus on our weaknesses – we can begin to extend our skill capacity and develop more engaged and resilient teams for the future.”
So, as Stan suggests, instead of thinking of your strong and weak points, focus on “uncovering new talents” in order to broaden your abilities and encourage your team to tackle new territories!
