What could be better than chowing down on your favourite ice cream? Eating ice cream and helping charity at the same time, of course.
You can do just that at all Cold Rock stores with a special calendar now on sale for $5 which will help raise money for The Alannah and Madeline Foundation – a national charity protecting children from violence.
The Foundation was set up in memory of Alannah and Madeline Mikac, aged 6 and 3, who were tragically killed, along with their mother and 32 others at Port Arthur, Tasmania in 1996.
The calendar will be on sale until the end of January and features $170 worth of Cold Rock coupons to enjoy at all stores throughout 2012.
“This is a fantastic opportunity to raise awareness of the pioneering work the Foundation does to protect children from violence, as well as for Cold Rock to give something back to the community,” Cold Rock managing director Stan Gordon said.
Around $25,000 is expected to be raised from the sale of the calendars in Cold Rock stores nationally.
“We are pleased to partner with Cold Rock this year,” The Alannah and Madeline Foundation CEO Dr Judith Slocombe said.
“This wonderful support allows is to continue our good work towards achieving our vision, that every child will live in a safe and supportive environment.”
Now in its 14th year, The Alannah and Madeline Foundation runs innovative programs and initiatives including Children Ahead, an intensive support program helping children to recover from serious violence and trauma; and Buddy Bags, which provides essential items to thousands of children in emergency accommodation nationwide.
The Foundation also conducts eSmart – a world-leading system to help Australian schools manage cybersafety and deal with bullying and cyberbullying.
