After an electrical fire stopped Cold Rock North Lakes in its tracks last month, the store is set to re-open this weekend following extensive refurbishments. Those that have been deprived of their favourite sweet concoction can breathe a collective sigh of relief as they once again indulge their sweet tooth with a Cold Rock fix and take advantage of a special offer on re-opening weekend.
The family-owned Cold Rock store suffered fire and smoke damage after a light switch sparked a blaze in the early hours of Friday 13 July – an ironic day for
such bad luck. Since then, owners James Hay, fiancée Susie Taylor and James’ parents have been working around the clock with the support of family, friends and Cold Rock HQ to get the store back in action. “After the initial shock of the fire, we’ve thrown ourselves into the store refurb and have seen it as an opportunity to upgrade the fitout with the new-look Cold Rock branding.,” says James. “Come 11am this Saturday 11 August, we’re excited to announce that Cold Rock North Lakes will be up and running again – better than ever – with a sleek new look! We look forward to welcoming the community back into the store and thank our customers for their ongoing support over the past few weeks.”

To celebrate Cold Rock North Lakes re-opening, the store is running a special ice cream offer all weekend. To entertain the kids and customers the Cold Rock mascot Rocky, a face painter and balloon artist will be in store from 11am until 3pm this Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 August. The couple, in collaboration with James’ parents, bought the Cold Rock North Lakes franchise in March this year after deciding to extend their business portfolio beyond the air conditioning and refrigeration business which James runs with his father.
At only 23, James is a keen businessman and has high expectations for Cold Rock North Lakes after record sales in the recent school holidays. With business booming, he and his fiancée are hoping another Cold Rock store may be on the cards in the near future.
